Share of adults exercising in Denmark 2016, by age and gender
In 2016, more than 50 percent of the respondents were exercising in Denmark regardless of age group and gender. For men, exercising was more common in the younger age groups, peaking at 65 percent of the respondents between 20 and 29 years. Contrastingly, the opposite tendency was seen for women. While roughly 50 percent of women in the younger age groups worked out regularly, the number of women who exercised increased by age 40 and older, exceeding the number of physically active men. Thus, the most physically active group during this year was women between 60 and 69 years, with 73 percent of the respondents working out on a regular basis.
