Children feeling discomfort without social media in Denmark 2018, by age and gender
In 2018, 12 percent of the boys in each age group felt uncomfortable when they could not access social media. While this was the case for nine percent of the girls in the youngest age group, the share of affected girls rose to 19 percent at age 13 and 15, which was an increase of more than 50 percent. Thus, girls in the older age groups felt more discomfort when they were not online when compared to boys.
