Gold production in Mexico 2021, by state
In 2021, the state of Sonora was the largest gold producer in Mexico, accounting for nearly one third of the country's output. That year, production in Sonora amounted to 35.9 metric tons. The state of Zacatecas ranked second, with around 22.7 metric tons of gold produced, or 18.2 percent of Mexico's gold mine production that year.
