In 2018, it was estimated that the wholesale and retail sector accounted for more than half of all the new businesses founded or within their first 3.5 years of operation. In fact, 45.9 percent of all early-stage businesses in Argentina were dedicated to the wholesale and retail industry in that year. The information technology and communications sector only made up 1.2 percent of all early-stage entrepreneurial activity in Argentina.
