India - cannabis products user share by level of use 2018

According to a survey on substance use in India between December 2017 and October 2018, over 2.83 percent of the surveyed respondents were current users of cannabis and related products Out of this, 0.66 percent of the people were considered to be problem users. In comparison, cannabis products like Bhang and Hashish or Charas saw lesser number of problem users. This might be in part due to the limited availability of these products, along with certain socio-cultural norms that permit the of use of these products.

According to source, problem users are those who score between 4 and 26 (for alcohol between 11 and 26) on the WHO ASSIST test and have experienced any harmful consequence of substance use within the last three months.
Dependent users are those who score over 26 points on the WHO ASSIST tests.
