Gender distribution in cinema movies in Sweden 2012-2016, by job type
Between 2012 and 2016, men were by far most represented in cinema movies' key positions in Sweden - both on screen and as part of the movie production. In total, men accounted for 70 percent of the content, while women only accounted for 20 percent. In detail, the cinema movies during this period were all written by men, and 80 percent of the movies were directed by men. Furthermore, only ten percent of the most popular movies had a female main character. The most equal job function was that of movie producers, where men and women accounted for 40 percent each.
