In the fiscal year 2022, the value of loss after tax for PVR Limited, was more than one billion Indian rupees. This reflected the declining trend in profits for the cinema that emerged since the financial year 2020. PVR cinemas was founded in 1997 and grew to own over 800 screens across 71 cities in India.
PVR Limited entered a merger with market competitor Inox Leisure in March 2023 to form India's largest cinema multiplex chain PVR Inox Limited.
