Microsoft Windows has been the leading operating system (OS) on desktops and laptops in the Netherlands from 2009 to 2019, although Microsoft lost market share to mainly OS X (Apple Mac OS) over the years. In 2009, Windows had a market share of roughly 93 percent, whereas that decreased to approximately 76 percent in 2019. The market share of Linux increased from roughly 0.9 percent in 2009, to 1.2 percent in 2019.
