Chile: foreign debt as share of GDP 2000-2018

In the past decade, Chile's external debt in relation to its gross domestic product (GDP) has been increasing, going from 1.3 percent in 2009, the lowest value registered since 2000, up until 5.3 percent in 2018. Still, Chile and Mexico are the only Latin American countries who have maintained the percentage of foreign debt below 10 percent since the beginning of the 21st century.
