Respondents who viewed eating healthily as expensive Malaysia 2018 by gender
According to a survey in Malaysia conducted in December 2018, 72 percent of female respondents were of the opinion that eating healthily was more expensive than eating unhealthily, compared to 69 percent of male respondents. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and has recently introduced a sugar tax to combat obesity.
