Russia: regions with the highest cashless trade penetration 2019
In 2019, the Russian region with the highest penetratino of cashless trade of citizens was the Republic of Karelia, measuring at approximately 58.5 percent. Residents of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast spent 54.2 percent of their trade expenses without using cash. Across the country on average, this proportion saw a steady increase since 2017, reaching 50.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019.
