In 2019, there were over 1,100 cases of primary syphilis, around 550 cases of secondary syphilis, and approximately 20 cases of congenital syphilis in South Korea. Overall, the number of primary and secondary syphilis cases has increased considerably over the past decade, but the number of cases reduced in 2019.
