Share of electric vehicles circulating in Italy 2018, by type
Even though the electric vehicle sector was growing rapidly in Italy, its market size remained small. As of 2018, electric buses made up only 0.5 percent of the total number of buses in use in the country. The figure was even lower for passenger cars, which accounted for 0.06 of the cars circulating in the country, and motorbikes, which made up 0.05 percent of the total.
