According to a survey in Malaysia conducted in December 2018, 62 percent of respondents were of the opinion that cereals have gotten healthier since five years ago. By comparison, 52 percent of respondents felt that sweet snacks have become unhealthier compared to five years ago. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and the government has taken measures to curb this problem such as introducing a sugar tax.
