Medical homes and their federation affiliates in Wallonia 2018
Medical homes are part of Belgium's health system landscape. These structures give the population access to a variety of health providers who take continuous care on physical, mental and social levels. In 2018, 92 medical homes were operating in the region of Wallonia, yet under different affiliations.
By law, the designation "medical home" is not regulated, meaning it can be used freely. To have a clearer picture, medical houses can be characterized by three aspects: its financing methods, its accreditation from the region of Wallonia, and finally, its affiliation to a federation.
In 2018, most medical homes in Wallonia are affiliated to the FMM* (Medical Homes Federation). Nine medical homes were affiliated to two federations that are not recognized by the region of Wallonia: MPLP* (Medicine For The People) and the FEPRAFO* (Federation of Lump Sum Practices).
