Life insurance written premiums in Austria 2011-2020

In 2020, after six years of gradual decrease, the value of gross written premiums by life insurance companies on the total market in Austria reached 5.39 billion euros. This was the lowest value registered since 2011. In comparison, in 2013, which was the peak year, the life premiums written amounted to almost 6.77 billion euros.

In Europe, the United Kingdom had the highest value of life insurance premiums among all European counties in 2020, followed by France and Italy. Together, the top three countries accounted for nearly 60 percent of the European market.
