The number of businesses in German agriculture has gone down drastically in the last four decades, as can be seen in this statistic. As of 2023, there were roughly 255 thousand agricultural businesses in Germany, compared to almost 397 thousand in 2005, or, going even further back, almost 721 thousand in 1985.
