Value of decarbonization investments in the EU paper industry 2020-2050
The achievement of decarbonization is forecasted to be a significant driver for the European forest fibers and paper industry, which will spend 3.1 billion euros in energy efficiency by 2050. By the same year, about 16 billion euros will be invested to use emerging technologies in the sector. Additionally, reducing the amounts of CO2 emissions will involve further investments in demand-side flexibility and fuel switch.
