In total, Italy had eight entry points for natural gas imports. As of October 2019, the construction works for an additional one, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), were 90% completed.
Natural gas imports reached Italy mainly through two pipelines: the Trans Austria Gas (TAG) pipeline and the Trans-Mediterranean (TransMed) gas pipeline, which had a capacity of 40 and 37 billion standard cubic meters, respectively.
