According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2021, around 34 percent of female or male respondents in Hong Kong who did not consume plant-based alternatives said the reason was that plant-based food products cost more than the original.

Among a total of 3,864 survey respondents, 1,367 respondents said they did not consume plant-based alternative food products. Among those, 798 were female and 569 were male.
