For 2020, it was estimated that jet fuel usage of gasoline in Malaysia would amount up to 2.5 billion liters, heavily decreasing from the previous year due to the Covid-19 crisis. Gasoline-powered vehicles are the most sold vehicles in Malaysia, accounting for over 80 percent of new vehicle sales. Meanwhile, diesel-powered vehicle sales are growing at a slow pace. In 2019, the production of fuel oil amounted to 2.7 million metric tons.
