From a series of annual surveys conducted in New Zealand from financial year 2014 to 2019, regarding citizens feeling safe in the city or town center at night, 49 percent of respondents stated they felt safe in the city or town center at night in financial year 2019. This was a decrease from financial year 2015, in which 57 percent of respondents stated they felt safe in the city or town center at night.
