Poland's electric vehicle market has experienced remarkable growth recently, with the number of registered electric cars surging to over 98,300 in 2023. This significant increase reflects a growing shift towards sustainable transportation options in the country, as consumers and policymakers alike recognize the importance of reducing carbon emissions in the automotive sector.
Charging infrastructure expansion
To support the rising number of electric vehicles on Polish roads, the charging infrastructure has seen substantial development. In 2024, Poland boasted more than 4,600 public charging stations, marking a 47 percent increase from the previous year. The majority of these charging points, specifically 63 percent, are equipped with type 1 and 2 sockets, catering to a wide range of electric vehicle models.
Diverse electric vehicle landscape
The Polish electric vehicle market encompasses various types of electrified vehicles. In 2024, over 16,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered, showing a slight decrease of three percent compared to the previous year. However, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) saw a 13 percent increase, with more than 14,000 new registrations. Notably, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) experienced the most significant growth, with over 121,000 registrations in 2024, representing a 31 percent increase from the previous year. This diverse range of electric and hybrid options caters to different consumer preferences and driving needs.

BEV (Battery electric vehicle) - also known as all-electric vehicle, BEV's has all its power from its battery packs and thus has no internal combustion engine, fuel cell, or fuel tank.
PHEV (Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) - a PHEV shares the characteristics of both a conventional hybrid electric vehicle, having an electric motor and an internal combustion engine (ICE), and of an all-electric vehicle, having a plug to connect to the electrical grid.
