Number of tenancy deposits protected in England and Wales 2008-2019
Introduced in April 2017, deposits taken on Assured Shorthold Tenancies (AST's) have to be protected in a Government-approved Tenancy Deposit Protection (TDP) scheme. The number of deposits protected under the TDP scheme has increased annually since it began. As of April 2019, there were almost 3.95 million deposits protected in England and Wales.
