Effective interest rate for nonfinancial SMEs in major economies 2009-2019

Of the world's major economies, the effective interest rate for nonfinancial small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was the lowest in Japan in 2019 at 1.25 percent. The highest rate was in the United States with 9.76 percent.

Interest rates for SMEs are generally higher than the effective interest rate that can be obtained by large firms.
