In 2020, the largest number of asylum applications made by Africans were presented by people coming from Nigeria, Tunisia, and Somalia. Compared to 2019, the number of asylum requests in Italy experienced a decrease. In 2019, there were in total around six thousand applications, while in 2020 the number of requests dropped by 49 percent.
