Favorite accommodations among hikers in Italy 2020
According to a 2020 survey, bed and breakfasts were the most popular travel accommodations among hikers in Italy. That year, 42 percent of surveyed Italian and international hikers mentioned bed and breakfasts as their favorite type of facility. Hostels ranked second on the list, chosen by 21 percent of respondents. Hiking is considered a form of ecotourism, a type of tourism focusing on aspects such as environmental sustainability and respect for local cultures and traditions.
