Italy: migrants enforced to return 2014-2020

In 2020, around 2.3 thousand migrants were forced to leave Italy. Data refer to the implementation of the enforcement procedure which imposes the obligation to return.
According to national immigration laws, 22.8 thousand people were illegally present on the Italian territory as of 2020. In the same year, 14 thousand asylum requests submitted in Italy were denied.
