Elderly population South Korea 2000-2060, by gender

As of 2020, there were around 3.5 million men and around 4.6 million women aged over 65 years old in South Korea. The number of elderly women has always remained higher than the number of men, and this trend is expected to continue in the future. The demographics of South Korea are expected to change significantly in the coming years. Thirty years from now, the number of children and people aged 15 to 64 is estimated to drop by a third, while the number of older people is believed to double. Meanwhile, the total population is expected to drop by more than four million people by this time.
