U.S. residential electricity compared to utility default prices by state 2018

California and New York were the states with the highest difference between residential electricity prices and utility default prices in the United States in 2018. In both states, the residential electricity price was about 2.7 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour more than the default prices and competitive sales.
