Netherlands: main reasons to light fireworks on New Year's Eve 2019

As of 2019, tradition appeared to be one of the main reasons for lighting fireworks on New Year's Eve in the Netherlands. The majority of people surveyed in early 2019 indicated that they lit fireworks on New Year's Eve because they considered it to be a nice tradition: close to 29 percent of survey respondents considered lighting fireworks to be a nice tradition, while around 13 percent considered it to be an important ritual to mark the beginning of a new year.
