The European Union (EU) was the largest wheat producer during the marketing year 2021/2022, at nearly 138.3 million metric tons. As for consumption, China was leading with 148 million metric tons of wheat during that period. In Russia, more than 75 million metric tons of wheat were produced, of which more than half was consumed. Russia was the leading wheat exporting country worldwide.
