In 2023, the European Union (EU) was Malaysia's largest export market for palm oil and palm-based products, with exports amounting to around 3.35 million metric tons. This was followed by India and China, with palm oil and palm-based products exports amounting to 3.28 million metric tons and 3.2 million metric tons respectively. However, plans by the European Commission to phase out the use of palm oil in transport fuel by 2030 threatens to reduce the size of this market for Malaysian palm oil in the future.
