Major winter weather events stood at 2,651 cases in the period between 2009 to 2019 in the United States, a 43 percent increase compared to the previous decade. Overall, major weather events decreased by 1.3 percent. The state of Nevada alone saw a 180 percent increase in events between the two decades with deaths rising by 820 percent.
