Belgium: pneumococcal vaccination, by education 2018

Pneumococcus vaccination prevents people at risk of contracting an infection due to this bacteria. In Belgium, the higher the educational level, the higher the coverage of such a vaccine in 2018. Although the results of the survey seem to indicate otherwise, results weighed by the entire population seem to indicate such a correlation. Indeed, over five percent of people with higher education had been vaccinated in the last five years in 2018. Whilst it was estimated that 3,5 percent of people with primary education had been recently vaccinated for pneumococcus in 2018.

This question was phrased in French by the source as follows: "Quand avez-vous été vacciné contre le pneumocoque pour la dernière fois?" which translates as: When have you been vaccinated against pneumococcus for the last time?

**The results have been weighted to represent the entire population of Belgium using a logistic regression by age and/or gender.

No proof of vaccine has been requested. Therefore, the figures are based on the respondent's statement.

The number of respondents varied from one educational level to another as follows:

Primary education: 506 respondents
Lower secondary education: 853 respondents
Upper secondary education: 1,559 respondents
Higher education: 2,313
