Ipsos on predictions for global issues in 2020, 51 percent of Singaporeans believed it likely that self-driving cars would become a usual sight in their towns or cities in that year. Singapore had been testing autonomous vehicles (AVs) on its roads since 2015. The Land Transport Authority had unveiled plans to designate around one thousand kilometers of public roads in the western part of Singapore as testing grounds for AVs in 2020.
