In a 2019 survey, 40 percent of Australian adults said they spent an average of between 26 and 50 Australian dollars per week on beer. Additionally, just over thirty percent said they spent between 51 and 100 Australian dollars on beer in an average week. In the same survey, 8.9 percent of adults said they had consumed just beer in an average four-week period and 8.1 percent said they had also consumed wine in the same period.
Industry profile
The Australian alcohol industry has seen a year on year increase in turnover since 2004. In 2018, turnover reached 12.14 billion Australian dollars Australia’s most popular craft beer style is pale and extra pale ale; in a 2019 survey, around 86 percent of respondents said these styles were a favorite. Lagers also fared well with just under 60 percent of respondents saying they enjoyed the style.
