In 2022, the state of Chandigarh in India had the highest number of cyber crimes with terrorism as motive with two cases registered with the authorities. The country recorded six of such offenses that year that were reported to the authorities. According to government estimates, the real figures of cyber crimes might be higher owing to lack of clarification by some of the state governments. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
