
COSCO Shipping Ports Group's GHG emissions by scope 2017-2020
The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of COSCO Shipping Ports Limited and its subsidiaries added up to some 619,000 metric tons of CO2equivalent in 2020. This represented a decrease of around 12,000 metric tons compared to the previous year. This was the result of a decrease in both direct and indirect emissions. Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by COSCO, including emissions from fuel combustion to propel vessels. Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from purchased fuels, thermal energy, or electricity.
