As of 2019, one person on average consumed around 9.2 kilograms of single-use plastic bags annually in South Korea, followed by 1.4 kilograms of PET bottles and 0.9 kilograms of plastic cups. That year, the total volume of single-use plastic consumption in South Korea amounted to around 586.5 thousand tons.
