A 2020 survey about food perception among Italian consumers revealed that, according to 68 percent of the respondents, food is perceived as source of happiness and satisfaction, while almost half of the people inteviewed find it as an opportunity to spend time together. By contrast, 15 percent perceived food as just a necessity.
