Leading high street fashion brands ranked by Buzz score in the United Kingdom 2019

As of 2019, the leading high street fashion brand in the United Kingdom (UK) according to Buzz score was Primark, with a score of 6.5. This was followed by Marks & Spencer and Next, with respective scores of 6.3 and 6.2. That same year, research found that 23 percent of individuals owned clothing from low-cost brands, such as Primark and Matalan, while just over a fifth owned clothing from medium-cost brands, like Mark & Spencer, Next, and GAP, at 22 percent.

Primark in the UK

The net worth of Primark stores in the UK increased over the last decade, reaching 1.1 billion British pounds in 2019, up from 250.5 million British pounds in 2010. As of 2019, Primark was the most popular shopping destination for men’s clothing, with nearly 10.9 million customers. Primark also ranked first ladies’ clothes store that year, with roughly 11.9 million people purchasing women’s clothing items from there.

Sustainable fashion in the UK

According to a survey conducted in 2020 in the UK, nearly one fifth of respondents said they bought clothes from sustainable brands. Shopping from sustainable brands appeared to be more common among men than women, at 53 percent and 47 percent, respectively. Men aged between 25 and 44 years old, were more likely to purchase clothes from sustainable brands, at 16 percent.
