As of February 2020, 9 percent of Indonesian respondents believed that the national government had overreacted to the COVID-19 outbreak. Shortly after Indonesia's President confirmed the first two cases in Indonesia at the beginning of March 2020, Indonesia's central bank, Bank Indonesia, said the country’s economic growth could still arise to 5.4 percent despite the ongoing spread of the coronavirus.

The survey was conducted across Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia, with 4,111 respondents in total.
