Supplementary notes

This data shows how many people dined at restaurants in 2021 and 2020, as compared to 2019.

For year-over-year comparisons, OpenTable compares the same days of the week to the same day of the week in 2019 (not the same date). For example, they would compare Tuesday of week 11 in 2021 to Tuesday of week 11 in 2019. The dataset is based on a sample of approximately 20,000 restaurants that provide OpenTable with information on all of their inventory in states or metros with 50+ restaurants on the OpenTable network. This sample of restaurants typically accounts for a majority of the seated online reservations.

2020 was a leap year and therefore includes 2/29, where 2021 does not.
