'A Quiet Place II' revenue loss predictions due to the coronavirus 2020

According to estimates, Paramount canceling the release of 'A Quiet Place II' due to the coronavirus outbreak could cost the movie studio up to 30 million U.S. dollars. Not only will the movie lose out on box office revenue, Paramount had reportedly already spent around 60 percent of the marketing budget dedicated to promoting the film before it pulled the release just eight days before it was due to hit theaters. A possible advantage for Paramount is that the production budget for 'A Quiet Place II' was remarkably low, which could potentially offset overall future losses. The movie cost 17 million U.S. dollars to produce, roughly the same as its predecessor 'A Quiet Place' which was released in 2018 and was a major hit for the studio. The movie was among the highest grossing movies in North Ameria that year and its global box office takings were almost 20 times higher than its production budget, and there are hopes that the sequel will perform similarly well upon its eventual release.

COVID-19 is impacting media markets around the world and according to industry estimates, the movie industry has already lost seven billion U.S. dollars in revenue since the coronavirus outbreak. Other movies to have their releases postponed for the time being include Bond movie 'No Time To Die' and 'F9', the latest instalment in the 'Fast and Furious' franchise.
