Japan: opinion on postponement of 2020 Olympics due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak 2020

According to a survey conducted in March 2020, more than half of respondents in Japan agreed to the suggestion that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics should be postponed considering the global pandemic outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Japanese government had not yet determined the attitude towards the situation as of middle of March. The health ministry in the country announced on March 19 that there were a total of 907 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Japan.
