In 2021, Italy was the European country with the largest share of elderly population. More specifically, 23.5 percent of the total population was aged 65 years and older. Moreover, Finland, Greece and Portugal followed in the ranking. On the other hand, Luxembourg and Turkey registered the lowest percentage of elderly people.
