In 2021, Peru was the Latin American country with the highest Global Health Security (GHS) Index score in the category of health system, with 71.7 points out of a total of 100. It was followed by Argentina, with a score of 64.4. The Global Health Security Index measures a country's readiness to prevent, detect and respond to biological threats.
