By the end of 2023, the so called "Chinese Netflix" iQIYI had reached almost 112 million of subscribing members, on a daily average basis. Trial memberships were a sheer fraction - 700,000 users. Founded in Beijing in 2010, Baidu's iQIYI is one of the largest online video platforms in the world with over 530 million monthly active users. The streaming company had been experiencing an operating loss over the past few years.
