In 2019, only 36 percent of U.S. adults who supported the Republican Party held a favorable view of the United Nations (U.N.), compared to the national average of 59 percent. This level of antipathy towards the U.N. is far lower than is found amongst supports of right-wing populist parties in Europe, despite the Republican Party not being generally classified as populist. For example, 56 percent of supporters of the German populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD) held a favorable view of the U.N.
